DefenderSoft Email Threat Protection
DefenderSoft ETP offers far more than traditional spam
and virus prevention. Our focus is on providing a complete email defense at the
network perimeter, using a combination of proven spam filters, leading
anti-virus engines, fraud protection, content filtering, and email attack
protection.
Delivering powerful email threat protection at the network perimeter, the Email
Defense Service identifies, quarantines, blocks and strips suspect email
messages before they can enter or leave an organization's messaging
infrastructure.

DefenderSoft Email Threat Protection (ETP) is centers around a sophisticated, streaming data environment.
Our Security team, using technology and systems powered by MX Logic, monitor the global state of email communication, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and provides
customers with real-time updates and protection.
The Threat Center provides dynamic email defense—staying far ahead of the next attack by continually incorporating information about the very latest spammer, virus and worm tactics.
In-line Message Streaming
this architecture creates a proxy gateway for inbound email to the enterprise or destination mail host. The service never actually acknowledges receipt of an email message. Instead, ETP accepts the inbound email traffic with the Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) and immediately opens a connection to the destination recipient email server. Messages are then passed through
MX Logic's preprocessing filtering layers as they are streamed to the recipient SMTP server. Once the recipient messaging platform signals the acceptance of the inbound email, the accepted protocol message is then passed back to the originating SMTP sender. Messages are processed in a network stream environment and are never stored to disk.
Component-based Filtering Layers
DefenderSoft ETP utilizes several layers of filtering technology which provide component-level integration within the messaging stream. A single event channel provides for universal and distributed configuration for enabling cross filtering layer communication. Modules and components subscribe and publish related data through the event channel which provides native application distribution capabilities. Modules may be upgraded and revised without service interruption.
No Integration or Migration Requirements
Service provisioning and implementation requires no data migration or integration solutions.
DefenderSoft’s customers simply point their MX record located within their DNS infrastructure to our inbound Message Transfer Agent (MTA). Recipient auto-discovery technology provides for a seamless method of managing end-user filtering data and policies with no additional integration.
Sophisticated Quarantine Management
Messages that are identified as spam or infected with viruses may be stored in an external quarantine area that the enterprise administrator can access. Administrators may remove, release or safely view infected or suspect messages. In addition, messages which violate domain-based policies for attachments and content can also be stored in content specific quarantines.
Our unique quarantine management process enables IT administrators to shift the burden of quarantine management to the end-user. Administrators can create policies which email spam quarantine reports to each recipient, allowing them to manage their own quarantine. If administrators choose to allow their end-users to manage their quarantine,
DefenderSoft sends a "Spam Quarantine Report" to the end-users email in-box. Via this email report, end-users can simply and quickly delete, forward, white list and/or blacklist quarantined email, significantly reducing the amount of time the IT department must spend managing spam. In addition, the MX Control ConsoleSM provides anytime access to personal quarantine areas.
Advanced Spam Protection Technology
Unlike most spam filtering solutions, which use one or two spam-classification techniques,
DefenderSoft ETP -powered by MX Logic; is based partly upon the Stacked Classification FrameworkSM,
and Symantec technology. This framework aggregates the most effective spam filters and techniques in the industry, currently leveraging the strengths of five spam-fighting filters:
:: Bayesian—Statistical algorithms identify and quantify the possibility that
a message is spam.
:: Heuristics—Thousands of proprietary rules of thumb recognize characteristics of spam.
:: Distributed Checksum Clearinghouses—Takes a checksum, or fingerprint, of all email messages it sees, and places those fingerprints in a database. If the database recognizes a large number of exact matches or at least very similar fingerprints, then those fingerprints are likely to indicate spam.
:: Distributed Black Lists: Mail Abuse Prevention Services (MAPS)—A real-time subscription service that maintains multiple lists of known spammers to help gauge the likelihood of a message being spam.
:: Domain Level Black and White Lists—Maintained by our customers, these customized lists detail sites, individuals or IP addresses from which mail is and is not allowed.
Each of the five filters dynamically calculates the spam probability of every message. Through an aggregation and analysis of these spam-likelihood scores, our patent-pending, multi-layered spam detection system provides extremely effective blocking of spam.
Multiple Leading Anti-Virus Engines
Layering technology is the key to protecting your organization against email threats—especially when it comes to viruses and worms.
DefenderSoft ETP provides an additional, complementary layer of protection to a company’s on-premise anti-virus engine—identifying, quarantining, blocking and striping viruses and worms at the network perimeter—before they enter or leave the messaging infrastructure. While a single anti-virus installation can provide reasonable resistance from known and unknown viruses, the protection of multiple, complementary engines can drastically reduce the risk of infection and provide an increased ability to stop new strains before they are recognized by a single scanner. Additional lowering of risk is applied by leveraging each engine's organic technology for behavior analysis of execution intent and associated heuristics for detection of unknown and new virus strains.
DefenderSoft has partnered with leading anti-virus companies, McAfee and Sophos, to offer customers the option of one or two additional layers of virus protection at their network perimeter.
